An Annual 4th of July Tradition

What an amazing time we had together last week at our annual Independence Day celebration!  Our church is thankful to be able to meet each week to worship God and share His gospel message. We realize that we have this privilege and freedom because of the wonderful country we live in. Each year we celebrate our American freedoms and our nation’s founding with a fantastic fireworks show and fun-filled festivities!

As we do each year, we gathered on the Eastland grounds for this special time of fellowship and fun with our church family and our local Tulsa community. We started with a great selection of food and sweets from some of Tulsa’s best food trucks. There was something for everyone to enjoy — pizza, tacos, chicken, snow cones, and more! Many people enjoyed the games set up on the lawn, including corn hole, volleyball, nine-square, and one of the kids’ favorites — gaga ball. The playground was full of smiling faces and the lawn was filled with chairs and blankets.

This year we were blessed with some of the best weather we have ever had during our Independence Day celebration. The rain cooled things off and cleared up just in time for the festivities giving us the coolest summer night we could hope for! And the clouds cleared leaving us a beautifully blank night sky just waiting to be filled with fireworks.

And fill the sky we did! Our fireworks crew put on a fantastic show! It started out with some amazing fireworks and just kept getting better and better. Several times the sky was full of so many sparkling colors and designs that we were sure it was the big finale and the show was nearing its end, only to find that there was more to come! When we did reach the big finale, the crowd clapped and cheered loudly in appreciation for the best fireworks show we have ever had!

We are mindful of the many hours put in by many people to make the evening such a success. A huge thank you to the fireworks crew especially, who labored for many long and hot hours to create such a special show for us to enjoy!

We are so thankful for a church home that gives us opportunities to make special memories with our families, our friends, and our community. Traditions like this one are one of the many things that make Eastland such a special place. If you are looking for a church home, a community, or a friend, Eastland is a wonderful place to find all three. There is a place for everyone here and we hope you’ll join us to find yours!
